Our story
Our life together starts in Canada and while the long version takes us to France, the UK, the Arctic, and back again, the short version is that we are an Australian-Canadian couple embarking on our journey of buying and building a first home. When a curious government grant loophole, and the glorious charm of restoring an old Queenslander became even a remote possibility, we decided we had to take the leap into home ownership, and document our journey along the way.
Our home
This charming little matchbox is Pelham house in its natural habitat. In 1948, across from a majestic park in Coorparoo in South Brisbane, Australia, this little house and weatherboard shed was built. In 2020, we found it and decided to cut it in half, pack it all up, bang it on a truck, and move it to a new location, the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Our hood
The Sunshine Coast Hinterland is South East Queenslandβs best kept secret. Itβs hard to imagine that anything could convince beach-going tourists to head for the hills, but driving through the rolling grassy farmlands to land among charming historic walks, wineries, and waterfalls, makes this a prime destination for us to perch our first home.
